Swami Smaranananda Giri and Brahmachari Adyananda met the Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu, on November 9, 2022. She welcomed the YSS sannyasis, and appreciated the spiritual and charitable activities of Yogoda Satsanga Society of India. Expressing her great reverence for Paramahansa Yoganandaji, she said: “Paramahansa Yoganandaji’s face glows differently. He gave [to the world] what mankind needed more than just food, clothing, and shelter. A great rishi as he was, like many great ones, he left his body at an early age yet his spiritual bounty is immense. I have always felt great spiritual vibrations whenever I visited YSS Ranchi Ashram, especially the Litchi tree that was nurtured by Paramahansaji. I always perceived that these litchis were different from other litchis, and felt uplifted.”
YSS sannyasis presented her with a letter from YSS/SRF President Sri Sri Swami Chidananda Giri, a bouquet, Inner Reflections — the SRF Engagement Calendar, and Pictorial History of YSS.
The President, when holding the office of the Governor of Jharkhand, had twice visited YSS Ranchi Ashram. Speaking at the International Day of Yoga function in 2016, where she was the Chief Guest, she shared her appreciation for Paramahansa Yogananda, and said how important it was to have a guru’s spiritual teachings in life — how attaining spiritual wisdom was difficult without which material success would be useless.
In November 2017, participating in the book release function of the Hindi translation of God Talks with Arjuna with the then President of India Sri Ram Nath Kovind she expressed her deep gratitude to YSS for its role in preserving the ancient spiritual tradition of India, and also for disseminating the practical and soul-liberating teachings of Gurudeva.
