An inspiring talk given by Self-Realization Fellowship President Sri Mrinalini Mata at the Mother Center during a pilgrimage visit of devotees from the San Diego SRF Temple. Welcoming them to the worldwide headquarters of Paramahansaji’s society, she shares memories of her first encounter with the Guru in 1945 — an experience she describes as “stepping from a dream into Reality.” Her talk is a soul-stirring testimony of the joy that comes from keeping one’s inner gaze focused on the Light of Spirit, given by one of the close disciples Paramahansa Yogananda personally chose to carry on his work after his passing.

About the Speaker

Sri Sri Mrinalini Mata

Sri Sri Mrinalini Mata, one of those personally trained and chosen by Paramahansa Yogananda to carry on the mission of his society after his passing, has been president and spiritual head of Self-Realization Fellowship/Yogoda Satsanga Society of India since 2011. Born in Kansas in 1931, she met the Guru in 1945, at the Self-Realization Fellowship Temple in San Diego. Just a few months later, with her parents’ permission, she entered Sri Yogananda’s ashram in Encinitas, California, as a nun of the Self-Realization Order. Through daily association during the years that followed (up until the time of the Guru’s passing in 1952), Paramahansaji personally trained her to prepare his writings and talks for publication after his passing. She has made six extended trips to India to serve the Guru’s work there, and served as vice-president of SRF from 1966 until 2011. She is also editor-in-chief of SRF publications.
